Ministry of the Interior and Safety Selects 7 Outstanding Cases of Proactive Administrative Regulatory Innovation

[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 9th that it has selected seven cases of ‘Q4 2022 Proactive Administrative Regulatory Innovation Best Practices,’ in which local governments improved unreasonable regulations through proactive administration and contributed to enhancing residents' quality of life.
In the fourth quarter of last year, a total of 454 cases of proactive administrative regulatory innovation were submitted by local governments, and the best cases were selected through internal and external reviews.
The selected best cases include a total of seven cases in five categories: ▲ Regional economic revitalization 2 cases (Gwangju Metropolitan City, Seoul) ▲ Rationalization of administrative procedures 2 cases (Jung-gu, Incheon; Cheongju, Chungbuk) ▲ Improvement of resident convenience 1 case (Cheongdo-gun, Gyeongbuk) ▲ Promotion of social value 1 case (Haeundae-gu, Busan) ▲ Demand-friendly legal interpretation 1 case (Cheonan-si, Chungnam).

Choi Byung-kwan, Director of the Local Finance and Economy Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, emphasized, “If many local governments adopt best practices of local regulatory innovation through proactive administration, it can achieve effects comparable to improving regulatory laws.” He added, “We will continue to actively discover, share, and spread leading cases of regulatory innovation together with local governments to create changes in daily life that residents can truly feel.”
