Gwangju City Conducts 'Honeybee Disease and Rearing Management' Training
The First Domestic Lecture by Dr. Jeong Neon-gi, the First Specialized Veterinarian for Honeybees in Korea
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Kijeong) announced on the 7th that it recently conducted education on ‘Honeybee Disease Management and Rearing Management’ for honeybee farming households at the conference room of the Health and Environment Research Institute.
About 60 local beekeepers attended this training, and Dr. Jeong Neongi, the first professional honeybee veterinarian in Korea, gave the lecture.
Dr. Jeong introduced the revised guidelines and improvements of the ‘2023 Honeybee Medicine Support Project,’ as well as appropriate rearing management methods to prevent mites (Tetranychus) and other pests.
He then educated on the appropriate types and usage methods of medicines by timing and disease cause to minimize damage caused by honeybee diseases (viruses, mites, etc.), emphasizing the importance of rearing management to prevent honeybee damage due to medicine misuse.

Nam Taeksong, Director of the Life Agriculture Division of the city, said, “This training was prepared to protect the honeybee industry, which has great public value,” and added, “We hope it will help with stable honeybee management and damage prevention.”
