Statistics Korea Undertakes Organizational Restructuring... Establishes Future Strategy Team and Regional Statistics Team
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Song Seungseop] On the 6th, Statistics Korea announced that it will establish the ‘Future Strategy Team’ and the ‘Regional Statistics Team’ to respond to future changes and build a digital platform government.
The Future Strategy Team will establish Statistics Korea’s response strategies to major future changes our society faces, such as population decline and climate change, as well as innovative plans aligned with public expectations. The Regional Statistics Planning Team will provide support for building collaborative systems with local governments, regional research institutes, regional universities, and regional public institutions, as well as assist local governments in data-driven policy formulation.
The Statistical Register Division will also be newly organized. This division will oversee the planning, construction, integration, and utilization of the Statistical Register, a population data set combining statistical survey data and administrative data on enterprises. Statistics Korea explained that since the Statistical Register is a core foundation that promotes data integration and utilization to enhance the value of national data, it will create value through expanding customized Statistical Registers and linking with public and private data.
Additionally, a ‘Smart Survey Center’ will be established for respondent-tailored surveys. The Smart Survey Center will develop and utilize IT-based survey techniques such as computer-assisted methods to provide customized response options to survey participants.
