Oh Se-hoon Visits Residential Facility for Disabled Ahead of Meeting with Jeon Jang-yeon
Promise to Address Care Gaps for Families of Disabled Persons and Strengthen Livelihood Support
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] On the afternoon of the 1st, Mayor Oh Se-hoon visited several facilities for the disabled located in Godeok-dong, Gangdong-gu, including ‘Woosungwon’ (residential facility), ‘Hana-reum’ (emergency and on-demand care facility), and ‘Raon Clean Family’ (vocational rehabilitation facility), to encourage facility staff and meet with residents with disabilities and their families to hear their voices from the field.
First, at 2:30 PM, Mayor Oh visited ‘Woosungwon’ to encourage the facility staff and listen to the difficulties faced by the residents with disabilities living there. Then, at 2:45 PM, he visited ‘Hana-reum’, located within Woosungwon, toured the facility with the staff, and held a meeting with users’ families and facility personnel.
Finally, Mayor Oh visited ‘Raon Clean Family’, a vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled, to observe how vocational rehabilitation programs and work activities are conducted and to commend the efforts of the facility staff.
Through this field visit, Mayor Oh plans to deliver a message about expanding on-demand care facilities for people with severe brain lesions by region to address care gaps for families of the disabled, as well as strengthening livelihood support for the disabled by expanding sustainable quality jobs, including providing public jobs and work opportunities at sheltered workshops in vocational rehabilitation facilities.

Meanwhile, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 26th of last month that it will provide a special heating allowance of 34.6 billion KRW to ensure sufficient heating for energy-vulnerable groups amid a record-breaking cold wave that has caused a surge in heating usage. Accordingly, a total of 937 municipal or city-supported social welfare facilities, including ‘Woosungwon’, will receive 3.5 billion KRW in special heating allowances.
