Jeonnam Province Doubles Winter Energy Voucher Support for Vulnerable Groups
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 30th that it will double the support amount per household for the energy voucher for vulnerable groups during the winter season and extend the application deadline by 2 months.
According to government policy, the support amount has been increased from 124,000 KRW to 248,000 KRW for single-person households, from 167,000 KRW to 334,000 KRW for two-person households, from 222,000 KRW to 445,000 KRW for three-person households, and from 291,000 KRW to 583,000 KRW for households of four or more.
The application deadline, originally December 30, has been extended by 2 months to February 28.
Applicants must be recipients of livelihood, medical benefits, or housing and education benefits (temporary in 2022) under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act, and either the applicant or a household member must be elderly, an infant or young child, disabled, pregnant, suffering from a severe illness, a rare disease, or a severe intractable disease.
Eligibility can be confirmed at the resident registration district community service centers, the Energy Voucher call center, or the Energy Voucher website, and eligible applicants can apply by visiting the community service center in their district.
Son Myung-do, Director of the Energy New Industry Division of Jeonnam Province, said, “Together with the Korea Energy Agency, city and county offices, and community service centers, we will strengthen publicity and cooperation to increase the application and usage rates of energy vouchers so that all eligible individuals can receive energy welfare benefits.”

The energy voucher program supports vulnerable energy groups in purchasing electricity bills in summer and electricity, city gas, district heating, kerosene, LPG, and briquettes in winter, and can be used until the end of April. In 2021, Jeonnam Province supported 36,822 households with 3.415 billion KRW.
