Police University Announces First Transfer Students of 50 Since Inception... Entrance Ceremony Next Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The Korean National Police University announced on the 26th that it has selected 50 successful candidates through the transfer admission system introduced for the first time in its 42 years since its establishment.
A total of 1,517 applicants applied for this transfer admission, showing a competition rate of 30 to 1. The successful candidates were divided into general university students and active police officers, with 25 selected in each category after written, physical fitness, and interview tests conducted over two months starting from November last year. The average age of the successful candidates is 27, with the oldest being 34 and the youngest 22. In terms of gender, 20 women were admitted, accounting for 40% of the total successful candidates.
By detailed educational background, the candidates were categorized as follows: ▲ 47 from four-year domestic universities (94%) ▲ 2 from the Academic Credit Bank System (4%) ▲ 1 from foreign universities (2%). The Police University evaluated this as "a result consistent with the purpose of introducing transfer admission to recruit diverse talents, with successful candidates evenly distributed across humanities and social sciences, science and engineering, education, and arts and physical education fields."

The final successful candidates must register on the application site from 9 a.m. on the 30th until 6 p.m. the following day. They will transfer as third-year students (41st class) and attend the entrance ceremony on the 28th of next month together with the 43rd class freshmen and the 72nd class police officer candidates.
