Sonsujo "Time to make a decision"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former lawmaker Na Kyung-won, a frontrunner for the party leadership, will announce her position at the party headquarters on the 25th. Although she has hinted at her intention to run, she has not made an official declaration, so all eyes are on her final decision. Choosing the party headquarters as the venue is analyzed as an attempt to emphasize her long-standing commitment to the party, having served as a Supreme Council member and floor leader. The possibility of her running is also considered high.
People Power Party lawmaker Cho Su-jin said that Na’s announcement is likely to be a 'candidacy press conference' and advised her to "stop even now." On CBS's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' she said, "Politics is a living thing, so we have to watch carefully, but considering the venue (party headquarters) and the fact that she sent a text announcing her position, it seems quite tilted toward running."
Cho analyzed that choosing the party headquarters as the venue was to emphasize the symbolism of having protected the party so far. She speculated, "If she were not running, she could just make a statement in writing or by text. Having been a former floor leader and wanting to explain that she 'has protected the party until now,' she probably chose the party headquarters for that reason."
Earlier, Na claimed on her social media that "the dismissal was not President Yoon Seok-youl's intention," which drew backlash from the presidential office and first-term ruling party lawmakers. Although she apologized on the 20th, the presidential office responded by calling it a "poisonous apology." Cho criticized Na for pushing ahead with her candidacy despite having held two important national positions, saying, "Candidacy is open to everyone, but the process is regrettable."
People Power Party emergency committee member Kim Jong-hyuk also predicted Na’s candidacy. On KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' he said, "I think she will probably decide to run, but inside the party, opinions are sharply divided between support and opposition. Some say she should not run because it would completely sever ties with the president, while others say if she stops now, her political life will be completely over."
Even the opinions of her advisory group are divided, so ultimately Na’s choice will determine everything. Kim said, "She must have agonized all night. I cannot guarantee what the result will be today, but I think it will be about 51 to 49 in favor of running."
Son Su-jo, spokesperson for the Ahn Cheol-soo camp, said on BBS's 'Jeon Young-shin's Morning Journal,' "Now is the time for former lawmaker Na to make a decision in her political career. I believe she will show a decision by running, which is better than stepping back."

Former People Power Party Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won withheld prediction on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' diagnosing that both running and not running are difficult situations for Na. He pointed out, "Even if she runs, it will be a very difficult situation, and even if she does not run, it will be the most difficult moment in her political life. Na was always applauded wherever she went, and even if she lost an election, she was applauded, but this situation is that difficult."
