119 Emergency Medical Technicians Increased by 280 Compared to Usual
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The National Fire Agency requested on the 19th that if an emergency occurs during the Lunar New Year holiday or if guidance on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies operating during the holiday period or consultation on emergency diseases is needed, please call 119.
The 119 Emergency Medical Situation Management Center of the National Fire Headquarters nationwide has professional counseling staff such as nurses and level 1 emergency medical technicians on duty 24 hours a day to provide guidance on hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, consultation on emergency diseases, and emergency treatment instructions. If professional consultation related to emergency diseases is required, it is also possible to connect to a doctor for additional consultation.
During last year’s Lunar New Year holiday, the total number of consultations received through 119 was 45,946 cases. The daily average was 9,189 cases, about twice the usual daily average of 4,695 cases on non-holiday days.
During this Lunar New Year holiday as well, to prevent difficulties caused by emergency situations for the public, about 445 119 emergency medical situation personnel (nurses, level 1 emergency medical technicians), an increase of 280 from usual, will be on emergency duty, and 111 call reception desks will be operated, with 33 additional desks installed.
For overseas nationals such as travelers staying abroad or crew members of deep-sea vessels, if consultation is requested via phone, email, internet, or the KakaoTalk 'National Fire Agency Emergency Medical Consultation Service' channel, they can receive consultation from professional medical staff through the National Fire Agency 119 Emergency Medical Situation Management Center.
