Seoul Museum of History Invites You to the "Seolmaji Hanmadang" Celebration
Held at Seoul Museum of History Plaza on the 21st at 12 PM
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] The Seoul Museum of History announced on the 17th that it will hold the 'Seol Celebration Festival,' an event that the whole family can enjoy together, in the museum plaza (outdoor) from 12 PM to 4 PM on the 21st to celebrate Seol, the greatest traditional holiday of our nation.
Welcoming the Year of the Black Rabbit, this program wishes for luck and peace, offering a variety of unique and enjoyable activities for the whole family, including traditional performances, folk game experiences, and various craft programs. All performances and experiences are free of charge, and any citizen visiting the museum can participate.
First, the festival will begin with a lively group performance of traditional Samulnori & Ginori and Jukbangul play at the museum plaza, held twice at 12 PM and 2 PM, energizing the Seol celebration event.
Starting with the attention-grabbing and exciting 'Samulnori,' the event continues with 'Ginori,' which prays for a year of abundance in the Year of the Black Rabbit, followed by 'Jukbangul play' involving the audience. This program is prepared to share abundance, gratitude, and happiness for the year through the Samulnori troupe’s splendid skills and cheerful rhythms.
In addition to the exciting traditional performances, there are diverse attractions to reflect on the meaning of the holiday and learn about our culture, including a folk game experience area and various craft programs.
The folk game area offers four traditional games (Horse Riding and Archery, Yutnori, Jegichagi, and Tuho Throwing) where families from toddlers to adults can freely participate together.
A Horse Riding and Archery competition is also prepared. It will be held twice (1 PM and 2:30 PM) through first-come, first-served pre-registration at the operation headquarters (20 family teams), and special Seol gifts will be awarded to teams with excellent results.
In the craft area, participants can experience three types of crafts (2023 Museum Artifact Calendar, Year of the Black Rabbit New Year’s Card, and Natural Hand Warmer Making). Craft experiences may end early once the prepared materials are exhausted.
Detailed information about the event programs can be found on the Seoul Museum of History website.
