8 out of 10 Domestic Golfers Say They Have Overseas Golf Experience

Over 100 Monthly Inquiries in Late Last Year Due to Increase in Overseas Travel
As demand for overseas travel increases, the number of people visiting foreign golf courses has also significantly risen.
On the 11th, golf booking platform XGOLF announced the results of a survey on overseas golf travel, revealing that inquiries for overseas golf course reservations through XGOLF have increased since the first half of last year, reaching over 100 inquiries per month in the second half.
Among the 724 respondents, 80.7% reported having experience using overseas golf courses. The most common number of rounds played was one or fewer at 44.2%, while those who played six or more rounds accounted for 21.7%.
The countries most frequently visited for overseas golf travel were Thailand (37.8%), Japan (34.2%), and Vietnam (17.7%). The primary reason for visiting overseas rather than domestic golf courses was cited as "affordable golf course fees." Other considerations included "relaxed pace of play" and "warm weather."
According to the Korea Leisure Industry Research Institute, weekday usage fees at domestic golf courses are more than three times higher compared to Japan. In December last year, XGOLF launched a service in partnership with Rakuten that allows users to register and view membership information for Japanese golf courses. Currently, the lowest price for booking a Japanese golf course through the XGOLF application is approximately 6,080 yen (about 57,000 KRW).
