"This mattress feels a bit softer." "Let's lie down again over there."
On the 3rd floor of Shinsegae Simon Paju Premium Outlets in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Following the sign that said 'Living Terrace,' warmth quickly dispelled the cold outside. Newly renovated, clean stores were comfortably situated in an open 2074㎡ (about 630 pyeong) space. In the central mattress zone, at the Tempur and Sealy stores, soon-to-be brides and grooms were trying out products to find the mattress that best suited their bodies. At the audio electronics brands like Bose and Marshall, family customers on an outlet outing were listening to sound tests.
Shinsegae Simon renovated the 3rd floor of Paju Premium Outlets last month into a home furnishing specialty hall. Previously, brands in the living, lifestyle, and electronics categories were set up as separate independent stores that had to be visited individually. Now, they have been gathered in one place. The area was also expanded by about 35% compared to before. This change focuses on customer convenience, allowing shoppers to compare various products at once in an open indoor space, much like browsing a department store.
In this space, visitors could explore a total of five zones including mattresses, imported furniture, kitchen & tableware, bedding, and small appliances. In the imported furniture zone 'Link Place,' European design furniture brands Tolv, Sketch, Marmo, as well as imported lighting and Art Deco products were showcased. In the kitchenware & tableware zone, famous kitchenware brands such as Zwilling, Le Creuset, Fissler, and WMF were featured. Along with Villeroy & Boch, Portmeirion, Cutipol, VBC Casa, and Vista Alegre?imported tableware hard to find in outlets?were gathered in one place. The camera specialist brand Canon also opened a store within the Living Terrace. Next to the Living Terrace, comprehensive furniture brands such as Casamia and Ilum were located, enhancing shopping connectivity.

From the consumer's perspective, the fact that the indoor space is connected as a whole means one-stop shopping is possible without having to open and close store doors and visit each store separately in cold weather. At the same time, the price benefits such as additional discounts on brand-specific clearance items, a strength of outlets, remain effective. However, the number of brands and products differs from large-scale home furnishing stores like department stores. This is recommended for those who need to prepare multiple items at once for wedding gifts and require price comparisons across various channels, those who need new furniture for children starting a new school term, and those who want to compare new products and clearance items together. It is essential to check whether the desired brand is present.
