[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo is gaining attention as a premium school trip destination and experiential learning site.
The Suncheonman International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Noh Gwan-gyu) signed a business agreement with the National Council of Provincial and Metropolitan Superintendents of Education last November to attract visitors to the 2023 Garden Expo. Following this, they are now making every effort to recruit students through cooperation with the National Council of Education Directors.
On the 5th, the Organizing Committee attended the National Council of Education Directors workshop held at the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel, where they explained key customized content for school trips to encourage students nationwide to visit the Garden Expo site for school trips and experiential learning.
The event was attended by Kim Kwang-soo, Superintendent of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office of Education; Lim Tae-hee, Superintendent of Gyeonggi Province Office of Education; Kim Jin-sun, Chairman of the National Council of Education Directors; and education directors from across the country.
The Organizing Committee introduced various experiential learning sites that sparked curiosity and received great responses from education directors nationwide, including ▲‘Suncheonman Wetland’ where visitors can breathe and learn in nature ▲‘Suncheonman National Garden’ where visitors can experience diverse immersive content and enjoy the garden culture festival ▲‘Suncheonman Job World’ supporting children’s dreams and futures ▲‘Ecological Culture Education Center’ offering curriculum-linked ecological experiences ▲and ‘School Garden’ found at the Garden Expo site.
Noh Gwan-gyu, Chairman (Mayor of Suncheon), said, “The 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo will transform the city’s fabric into a human-centered space, setting a new milestone in urban planning in Korea and propelling Suncheon as a hub city in the Southern Coast Belt. I hope schools at all levels will utilize the Expo site as a learning venue so that our students, who will lead future generations, can visit and experience it firsthand.”
The 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo will showcase unprecedented content such as ▲‘Ocheon Green Plaza,’ a flood control facility transformed into a communication and cultural space ▲‘Green Island,’ where asphalt roads for cars have been converted into vast grassy paths ▲‘Garden Stay,’ offering a special night inside the garden ▲and ‘Earthing Trail,’ promoting health through barefoot walking. The Expo will be held for seven months from April to October at the National Garden, Suncheonman Wetland, and various locations throughout the city.
