Not Synthetic or Fake... 3.2 Million Won 'Gucci' Hangul Shirt
Limited Edition Released Exclusively in Korea
Italian luxury brand Gucci unveiled the 'Korea Exclusive Collection,' available only in Korea worldwide, on the 6th to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Among the collection, products featuring Hangul prominently caught attention.
Since last year, Gucci has been releasing Korea-exclusive products to commemorate traditional Korean holidays such as Lunar New Year and Chuseok. Last year, they gained popularity by selling handbags inspired by equestrian heritage and T-shirts inspired by the traditional Korean pattern 'Saekdong.'
This year's Lunar New Year collection significantly expanded its categories compared to last year, including handbags, wallets, sneakers, and apparel. Among them, the designs with 'Gucci' engraved in Hangul on T-shirts and sweatshirts stand out the most. The prices are 3.2 million KRW for the sweatshirt and 890,000 KRW for the T-shirt. High-end products include a women's reversible wool coat priced at 5.8 million KRW and handbags in the 5.1 million KRW range.
The Lunar New Year collection is available for purchase on Gucci's official online store, Gucci.com, and at select offline stores.
Gucci is putting considerable effort into localization in the Korean market, where the luxury market is growing the fastest worldwide. According to market research firm Euromonitor, the domestic luxury market size reached 19.4488 trillion KRW last year, growing 8% compared to the previous year.
For example, in June 2021, Gucci opened 'Gucci Gaok,' its first standalone store in 23 years, in Hannam-dong, Yongsan. In May next year, Gucci plans to hold its first fashion show in Korea and unveil the 2024 Cruise Collection.
