"Internal Criticism Purge" Jang Ye-chan Declares Candidacy for Youth Supreme Council Member
"Playing the Role of the Frontline Striker for the Yoon Seok-yeol Government"
Calling for the Exit of the 86 Movement Faction, Dissolution of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and Purging of Fake Conservatives
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Jang Ye-chan, chairman of the Youth Foundation, officially announced his candidacy for the People Power Party's youth supreme council member election to be held in March.
On the 5th, Chairman Jang held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and stated, "As the frontline attacker of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and conservatism, I will achieve three goals, a hat-trick."
On that day, Chairman Jang pledged three promises: the departure of the 86 activists, the dissolution of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), and the purge of fake conservatives.
He said, "I will permanently remove the 86 activists, who hold back the younger generation with outdated ideology, from Yeouido," and added, "I will break the 30-year political job security and boldly abolish the privileges of National Assembly members." Regarding the dissolution of the KCTU, he said, "I will change the system of compulsory withholding of union dues to an optional payment system," and "I will engage in dialogue with reasonable unions such as the MZ unions that have sparked a new wind."
He also said, seemingly targeting former leader Lee Jun-seok, "I will eliminate bad habits like internal backstabbing within the conservative camp and create a culture where sacrifice and dedication are recognized."
Chairman Jang served as a youth special advisor during President Yoon Seok-yeol's candidacy and helped create youth-related policies. He stated, "I, who know all the processes from the start of the pledge, including the abolition of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and a full survey of civic groups, will show results," and "I will firmly conclude matters so that no dissenting voices arise within our party."
