Samsung Electronics Presents Vision for the Hyperconnected Era

Samsung Electronics unveiled its vision for the "Hyperconnected Era Opened by Customized Experiences" ahead of the opening of CES 2023, the world's largest electronics and IT exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA.
On the 4th (local time), Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, took the stage as the keynote speaker at a press conference held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, stating, "It is time for new challenges to realize the completion of the connected experience promised by Samsung Electronics," and added, "Our ultimate vision is to realize technologies that embody everyone's dreams and wishes through connection."
He continued, "Nearly half of the employees in the Device Experience (DX) division are focusing on connected technology," explaining, "This is to smoothly connect the 14 billion various connected devices currently on the market and bring about many changes for people's daily lives and the global environment." He emphasized, "In the upcoming hyperconnected era, we will maximize the happiness and abundance that technology brings so that Samsung's technology can harmoniously shape the digital world."
On the same day, Samsung Electronics also presented Samsung's challenge toward carbon neutrality and the future smart life unfolding in the SmartThings universe. Samsung Electronics aims to achieve carbon neutrality for the global environment by 2050 through innovative technologies. Jung In-hee, Executive Director of Samsung Electronics' Sustainability Management Promotion Center, said, "Our goal is to enable customers to participate in responding to climate change and enhancing resource circulation by introducing sustainable products and technologies," adding, "We are creating changes toward a better future by using recycled plastics in more products and improving the energy efficiency of new products."
Samsung Electronics also announced its goal to open the hyperconnected era by implementing easier and more intuitive technologies to maximize the connectivity and usability of various devices. On this day, Jung Jae-yeon, Vice President of Samsung Electronics' Device Platform Center, who spoke as a presenter, said, "Samsung SmartThings is no longer just a simple IoT platform but Samsung Electronics' new value and vision that provides customers with a hyperconnected experience," and added, "We plan to provide an experience of expanding the ecosystem of more partner devices through global IoT standards Matter and HCA centered on Samsung products and SmartThings."
They also unveiled a new SmartThings hub, the 'SmartThings Station,' designed to make hyperconnected experiences at home easier to implement. The SmartThings Station is a small and convenient SmartThings hub embedded in a wireless charger. By supporting 'Matter,' the smart home IoT interoperability standard, the SmartThings Station allows easy integration and use of smart home devices from various manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics, Google, Amazon, and Apple. Users simply scan the QR code of Matter-supported products with the camera of their Galaxy smartphone.

Connected products such as smart TVs, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, lighting, curtains, and power outlets can be turned on, off, and controlled via the app. The 'Routine' feature can also be set to automatically operate registered devices according to the user's situation.
