Namwon-si Introduces 'N-Urban Design'... Differentiated Urban Spaces

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk plans to introduce N-Urban Design this year, considering the characteristics of the city, to add color to the city.

According to the city on the 4th, the introduction of the 2023 Namwon City N-Urban Design is being promoted to create designs suitable for Namwon and to develop differentiated urban spaces linked to the region's unique characteristics, tourism, economy, and culture.

With this introduction, the city plans to improve the quality of public design through the unification of related policies.

To promote urban design, the city has previously completed the integrated master plan for the old downtown, public design promotion plan, and landscape plan, and from this year, it plans to establish an integrated implementation plan to express the color of Namwon in the city.

In particular, the city is preparing to establish a new urban design team to serve as a control tower (overall management) that can coordinate changes in the city such as landscape, landscaping, and parks.

The city plans to benchmark other cities and seek expert advice to create a draft of the integrated implementation plan, hold public hearings and roundtable meetings for citizens, and through this process, discover the city’s color and standard designs for public facilities.

A city official said, “Going forward, starting with gathering citizens' ideas, we will discover specialized designs reflecting the region's unique culture and urban image, and expand urban design from public facilities to private facilities.”

He added, “In the future, we will promote N-Urban Design in connection with the creation of a global art city that harmonizes tradition and cutting-edge technology, which is a pledge project of the 8th local government administration.”
