A woman in her 30s suddenly pushed a 3-year-old child onto the tracks without any reason at a train station in the United States. The woman was taken into custody without bail.
According to NBC News, on December 28 last year (local time), an incident occurred at the Gateway Transit Center subway station in Portland, Oregon, where a woman pushed a 3-year-old girl onto the tracks. The woman faces five charges, including first-degree assault attempt and interference with public transportation.
The Oregon District Attorney's Office released CCTV footage showing the incident. According to the video, a child wearing a pink jumper was waiting for the train next to her mother. Suddenly, a woman sitting on a bench stood up and forcefully pushed the child's neck, causing her to fall.
Due to the impact, the child fell to the ground and dropped onto the tracks below. Fortunately, the train had not yet arrived, and the mother and bystanders rushed to rescue the child.
The child reportedly sustained injuries to her face from hitting the tracks and rocks. Authorities stated that the child complained of severe headaches and had small red marks on her forehead at the time of rescue.
The woman who pushed the child was identified as Briana Race Walkman (32), a homeless resident of the area. Walkman is said to have a prior record including assault and drug possession. The local prosecutor’s office detained her without bail and charged her with first-degree assault attempt, third-degree assault, and second-degree interference with public transportation.

A representative of the station where the incident occurred said, "(Walkman’s actions) are inexcusable," and added, "We cannot understand why she committed such an act."
