[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol attended the presidential office staff assembly for the first time on the 2nd and personally encouraged about 400 employees.
On that day, President Yoon shook hands with all staff members, including senior secretaries, secretaries, and administrative officers, on the second floor of the presidential office and took commemorative photos.
Although President Yoon had previously gathered secretaries and above after returning from his Southeast Asia tour in November last year to share his reflections and request support, this was the first time he met with all presidential office staff.
When President Yoon came out of his office for the commemorative photo, the employees burst into cheers. The photo session with President Yoon and the staff took about an hour.
When Chief Secretary Kim Dae-gi expressed concern about his back health, President Yoon reportedly said, "During the election, I did three times more than this. I am happy and glad to meet with the staff."
Afterwards, the New Year's assembly presided over by Chief Secretary Kim was held in the underground auditorium. In his opening remarks, Kim emphasized that after about eight months of preparing the field since the launch of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, it is time to prepare with the mindset of sowing seeds from the new year. This was interpreted as a call to actively act to overcome the economic crisis and implement government tasks.
Chief Secretary Kim also mentioned the 'jjangdol' (slingshot stone) he referred to at the first all-staff assembly held in September last year. At that time, Kim said, "Visible risks are not risks," and urged, "Since you never know where a 'jjangdol' might fly from, always thoroughly check for risks."
On this day as well, Kim mentioned that there were cases of injuries caused by sudden 'jjangdol' while plowing the field last year and advised, "Although this year has no elections, do not let your guard down and respond well with the mindset of sowing seeds."
Kim also referred to incidents such as the flooding of the underground parking lot of an apartment in Pohang last year and the recent fire in the noise tunnel in Gwacheon, instructing, "Always thoroughly check for risks." In particular, Kim reportedly mentioned the October 29 tragedy as the most tragic event that should never have happened.
Kim further stressed that while managing each ministry is important, since the presidential office is the institution that delivers the president’s actions and messages, staff should come up with related ideas. He emphasized, "Those who propose creative ideas related to the president’s actions and messages will definitely be rewarded."

Kim also reiterated the need to respond to 'fake news' to all staff. President Yoon reportedly mentioned MBC’s report on the 'vulgar language controversy' during his New York tour and some YouTubers’ reports on the 'Cheongdam-dong drinking party' allegations, urging swift responses to fake news.
