First Dialogue with Residents in the New Year... What Policy Suggestions Did Gyeongnam Residents Make to Governor Park Wan-su?

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, held the first "Dialogue with Residents" of the new year on the 2nd.
At the provincial government large conference room, the event titled "Dialogue with Residents, Hopes for the 2023 Year of the Black Rabbit Provincial Administration" was attended by Governor Park, Vice Governor Choi Manrim, Economic Vice Governor Kim Byungkyu, former department heads, and about 70 residents.
Governor Park said, "The past six months since the launch of the 8th popularly elected term were a period to start the engine and tighten the bolts to lay the foundation for a leap forward. In 2023, I will make it the first year of running hard and producing results for the residents."
He continued, "At this point of creating new hope, I believe it is our duty to listen carefully to the vivid voices from all walks of life and reflect them in the provincial administration for the residents. If the will and passion of public officials and the intentions of residents come together, Gyeongnam can recover its past glory and stand tall among cities and provinces nationwide."
According to the province, the dialogue with residents was conducted in line with the provincial administration vision of "Vibrant Gyeongnam, Happy Residents," divided into industrial economy and cultural welfare sectors.
Proposals included raising taxi fares reflecting inflation rates and improving treatment for volunteers, and the role of public institutions in attracting good talent and creating a startup environment was also emphasized.
There were also questions about specific activation plans for the province’s nuclear power, defense industry, and aerospace industry, as well as directions for small business support policies and local currency.
Opinions were expressed on the importance of forestry in the era of climate crisis and the need for groundbreaking support measures.
