Gochang-gun Opens Nationally Designated Cultural Heritage Gochang Eupseong Free for One Year

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun is opening Gochang Eupseong free of charge for one year in 2023, the "Year of Visiting the World Heritage City Gochang."

According to the county on the 2nd, this free admission allows Gochang residents to enter free of charge as before, and for paid visitors, the full admission fee will be refunded in Gochang Love Gift Certificates.

Through the issuance of local currency, it is expected to attract tourists, revitalize the local economy, and lead the era of 10 million tourists who want to revisit Gochang.

The admission fee for Gochang Eupseong is 3,000 KRW for adults, 2,000 KRW for adolescents, and 1,500 KRW for children, with adults and adolescents receiving the full amount in Gochang Love Gift Certificates.

Children will be admitted free of charge in 2023 in accordance with the Gochang-gun Eupseong Operation and Management Ordinance.

Starting in March, the East Gate (Deungyangru) within Gochang Eupseong will be opened to expand visitor routes connected to the natural yard, and the viewing environment will be improved to appreciate Gochang-gun’s historical and cultural heritage and natural environment.

In addition, the inner and outer fortress trails will be maintained, and visitor convenience facilities such as coffee vending machines will be expanded to provide a space for relaxation and leisure along with cultural heritage.

County Governor Shim Deokseop said, “Gochang Eupseong, a representative tourist site of Gochang and a nationally designated cultural asset (historic site), is a place that shows the typical form of a Joseon Dynasty fortress, and its value is very high,” adding, “I hope all citizens visit the World Heritage City Gochang in 2023, the Year of the Black Rabbit, and experience the taste and charm of Gochang.”
