Jang In-gyeong, Director of Cheol Museum, Appointed as New Chairman of National Museum Cultural Foundation
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Jang In-gyeong (63), director of the Cheol Museum, has been appointed as the chairman of the National Museum Cultural Foundation. The term is three years, until December 28, 2025.
Chairman Jang graduated from the Department of Sculpture at Seoul National University and completed doctoral coursework in cultural anthropology at Hanyang University. She has served as chairperson, executive director, and Korean committee chair of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Asia-Pacific Regional Alliance, an international museum organization with over 130 member countries worldwide. In August this year, she was appointed as vice-chairperson of ICOM and is currently active in that role.
An official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, "Based on her extensive experience and expertise accumulated in academia and the field, we expect her to strengthen the foundation's roles and functions, contributing to the revitalization of national museums and the expansion of cultural enjoyment rights for the public."
