The two institutions signed this agreement to promote the Korea Naval Academy cadets' understanding of Hangeul and to share the value of Hangeul and Hangeul culture with people around the world. Attending the signing ceremony were Hwang Sun-woo, Superintendent of the Korea Naval Academy (Lieutenant General), the Vice Superintendent, Korean language professors, and other related personnel, as well as Kim Young-soo, Director of the National Hangeul Museum, and other officials.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ matters related to the international sharing of the value of Hangeul and Hangeul culture ▲ operation of educational programs on Hangeul culture ▲ other necessary cooperation matters between the two institutions such as personnel exchange, education, and research.
In particular, through this agreement, the Korea Naval Academy will conduct Hangeul cultural exchange activities using the Hangeul cultural experience teaching materials provided by the Hangeul Museum (“The Beauty of Hangeul Calligraphy: Son-euro Kkotpiuneun Hangeul”) as part of military diplomacy during the annual cruising training. Meanwhile, the Hangeul Museum plans to operate educational programs introducing Hangeul cultural experiences for foreigners targeting fourth-year cadets preparing for cruising training.
Through this, Korea Naval Academy cadets will serve as so-called “Hangeul ambassadors,” systematically promoting Hangeul, Korea’s representative culture, alongside their existing activities such as Taekwondo demonstrations and Samulnori performances during the cruising training period, in addition to their military practice.
