Hyundai Elevator Shares Love with Children Battling Leukemia
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hyundai Elevator announced on the 28th that it held the ‘2022 Matching Grant Scholarship Award Ceremony.’
Hyundai Elevator awarded 2.6 million KRW, giving 1 million KRW each to 26 elementary, middle, and high school students from Chungju, where its headquarters is located; Ipjang-myeon in Cheonan, where its logistics center is located; Yangyang-gun in Gangwon-do, with which it has a One Company One Village relationship; and Yeoju Nuri House, its sister organization.
Since 2009, Hyundai Elevator has operated a social contribution fund with the purpose of ‘fulfilling corporate social responsibility and nurturing local talent.’ The fund is raised through a matching grant system, where employees deduct less than 1,000 KRW from their monthly salaries to accumulate the ‘Spare Change Deduction Fund,’ and the company contributes an equal amount as sponsorship. Starting with 6 recipients in the first year, a total of 263 million KRW has been provided to 267 students up to this year. This year, scholarship recipients and school officials were invited to the Chungju Smart Campus for a tour and the scholarship award ceremony.
Meanwhile, following the scholarship award ceremony, during the ‘Pediatric Cancer Patient Blood Donation Certificate and Sponsorship Fund Delivery Ceremony,’ 255 blood donation certificates and 5 million KRW collected by employees over the past year were delivered to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation. Through voluntary participation by employees since 2011, Hyundai Elevator has delivered a total of 2,072 blood donation certificates and 42.9 million KRW in sponsorship funds to 12 pediatric patients.
