On that day, Chief Kim, along with Deputy Director Yeo Woon-guk and about 30 staff members, participated in meal service activities at the 'Caritas Love Restaurant' located in the Caritas Bangbae Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.
The 'Caritas Love Restaurant' is a free meal service started in March 1998 by the Caritas Sisters (led by Sister Innocentia) to share hardships with citizens facing economic difficulties due to the IMF crisis at that time.
Through the participation of over 400 volunteers annually, the restaurant provides lunch to an average of about 180 basic livelihood security recipients, elderly living alone, disabled persons, and homeless individuals daily.
On this day, Chief Kim and other Gong-su-cheo staff prepared ingredients from 9:30 a.m. and carried out volunteer activities including serving meals, washing dishes, and cleaning up for about 100 visitors until 1:30 p.m. Chief Kim also personally made kimbap.
Before starting the volunteer work, Chief Kim handed over the donations collected by Gong-su-cheo employees and prepared fruits to the Sisters.
Since the end of last year, Gong-su-cheo has been continuously promoting social contribution activities in cooperation with the local community, starting with a donation of rice to low-income elderly at the Gwacheon Senior Welfare Center.
After expressing gratitude to the Sisters and the Love Restaurant, who have devoted themselves to marginalized neighbors with the spirit of love and sacrifice, Chief Kim said, "I hope the hands of Gong-su-cheo employees can be a small but warm comfort to those going through difficult times in the cold winter."
