Gyeongnam National University held a workshop for the establishment of the 'K-Democracy Research Institute (tentative name)'.

Since the 3.15 Movement that took place in Masan in 1979 in protest against rigged elections, Gyeongnam National University has been a symbolic center and origin of South Korea's democratization history, including the "10.18 Bu-Ma Democratic Uprising" and the "6.10 Democratic Uprising".
The future Gyeongnam National University "K-Democracy Research Institute" will inherit and develop the spirit of the Korean democratization movement based on systematic and in-depth research and education, and will develop and operate various programs and content to establish a mature democratic spirit in the region.
The workshop was attended by Vice President for Academic Affairs Park Jae-yoon, Director of the Media and Publishing Center Jeong Eun-sang, Professor Jeong Seong-gi of the Department of Economics and Finance, and many professors interested in the establishment of the institute, as well as participants in the "Hanma Inseong Education - Democracy and Peace Citizenship Education," discussing various matters necessary for the establishment of the "K-Democracy Research Institute" and the development of various programs and content.

Vice President Park said, "Gyeongnam National University has a historical record as the first university in the country to take a brave stand in the 3.15 Movement, the beginning of South Korea's 'four major democratization movements' that the world can be proud of," adding, "I hope that today’s gathering will be a meaningful time to share the purpose of establishing the 'K-Democracy Research Institute' and further inherit and develop the 'democracy' that was protected and chosen through blood and sweat."
