Daewoo Construction and Seoul City Conduct Volunteer Activities for Residential Environment Improvement Project

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Minjae] Daewoo E&C announced on the 20th that it conducted volunteer activities to improve the housing environment for vulnerable groups in housing safety in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Habitat for Humanity Korea.
The household selected as the target for this housing environment improvement project is a semi-basement house located in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu. An elderly couple resides there, and the household includes a disabled person who has difficulties with daily life and mobility. The house was built in 1993 and suffered flood damage in 2019.
For this household, the following works were carried out: ▲replacement of windows and lighting ▲installation of water barriers to prevent flooding ▲installation of operable security windows to improve heating efficiency and secure emergency escape routes ▲minimizing door thresholds and installing hinged doors for the convenience of the mobility-impaired resident.

A Daewoo E&C official said, “We are glad that the home of the elderly disabled couple who have difficulty moving and living has been renovated to suit the residents,” and added, “We hope that this opportunity will lead to a continuous public-private cooperation project with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and Habitat for Humanity Korea.”
