Yoon Yeo-jun "Han Dong-hoon is a good person but lacks political aptitude..."
Korea's Leading Political Strategist Yoon Yeo-jun, CBS Radio Interview
Evaluates Minister of Justice's Ability but Says "Does Not Seem to Have Political Talent"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] Yoon Yeo-jun, former Minister of Environment and regarded as a leading strategist in Korean politics, described Han Dong-hoon, Minister of Justice, as a "good figure" in an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the 20th, but expressed his wish that Han refrain from entering politics.
When asked to name the most prominent figure in politics this year, whether in a positive or negative sense, Yoon replied, "Based on media reactions, wouldn't it be Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon?"
Yoon said, "How should I put it? Minister Han has a concise and clear personal logic and thoughts. Definitely. He also has the ability to logically articulate his thoughts clearly. His communication skills are good," adding, "his messages are short, impactful, and effective."

That kind of talk can be a kind of temptation for him, but he shouldn't be swayed by it. Talent has its proper place; just because one's logic is clear doesn't mean they become party leader."
Yoon added, "Being a prosecutor who enforces the law with clarity is one thing, but becoming the leader of a democratic party requires different qualities, so I oppose that view," and said, "I want to advise him not to go into politics."
Yoon said, "I'm not necessarily against him becoming a member of the National Assembly, but if he goes there, will it end there? There might be people around him who try to prevent him from stopping there, so rather than that, it's better not to step into politics at all," he advised.
Yoon emphasized, "If we consider the right person in the right place, I don't think he is someone who should go into politics. So, I say let's not let a good figure go the other way, grow significantly, and contribute to the country, only to be ruined by entering politics."
Yoon pointed out, "If (Minister Han) seems to have talent, I would encourage him to do it anytime, but from my perspective, he doesn't seem to have a talent for politics," and added, "Those who work in law should avoid politics as much as possible."
Recalling his time serving former Grand National Party leader Lee Hoi-chang, Yoon said, "Back then, everyone thought he would become president. I served him during that time, and I repeatedly thought that those who specialize in law and spend their lives enforcing it shouldn't do this."

Meanwhile, Yoon Yeo-jun is known as one of the leading strategists in politics alongside former People Power Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in and former Democratic Party leader Lee Hae-chan. The reason their thoughts attract political attention during presidential elections is that many presidents have been elected with their help.
