The Korea Meteorological Administration warned that on the 15th, heavy snow warnings may be issued for the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and Chungcheong provinces, as heavy snow is expected to fall.
Rain or snow will fall in the northern inland areas of Chungnam and Jeju until the night of the 14th. At the same time, snow will flutter in the southern inland areas of Chungnam, central Chungbuk, and western inland Jeolla. Occasional snow will fall on the western coasts of Chungnam and Jeolla until the morning of the 15th.
In the central region (excluding central and southern Gangwon and the eastern coast), Jeonbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, southwestern inland Gyeongbuk, and western inland Gyeongnam, snow or rain will fall from morning to night on the 15th. Snow or rain will also fall in northern Jeonnam at night.
As the continental high pressure expands, cold air moving south from the north passes over the relatively warm West Sea, creating a snow cloud band. Therefore, snow will begin to fall on the western coast of Gyeonggi between dawn and morning, gradually expanding to other central regions. Snow may also flutter in Seoul and Incheon during this time.
Currently, a heavy snow preliminary warning has been issued for various parts of the central region, including the entire Seoul metropolitan area.
This heavy snow preliminary warning is expected to be upgraded to a heavy snow warning from the morning of the 15th.
In eastern Gyeonggi, central and southern inland (mountainous) Gangwon, and northern Chungbuk, snowfall is expected to exceed 10 cm on the 15th. Expected snowfall amounts are 3?8 cm in the Seoul metropolitan area, inland and mountainous Gangwon, inland Chungnam, central and northern Chungbuk; 1?5 cm in the western coast of Chungnam, southern Chungbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, the five West Sea islands, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo; 1?3 cm in Jeonbuk, northern Jeonnam, and western inland Gyeongnam; and around 1 cm in northern eastern Gangwon and southwestern inland Gyeongbuk.
Precipitation amounts are expected to be around 5 mm or less than 5 mm.
