National Police Hospital Branch Established in Asan, Chungnam
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A branch of the National Police Hospital will be established in Asan, Chungnam.
On the 14th, Chungnam Province announced that the Police Agency’s National Police Hospital Branch Site Evaluation Committee had finally selected the Police Human Resources Development Institute located in Chosa-dong, Asan City, as the site for the branch hospital.
The branch hospital will be built as a top-tier general hospital with 550 beds on 81,118㎡ of vacant land at the Police Human Resources Development Institute.
After opening, it will operate 2 centers and 23 medical departments, with about 1,000 medical staff residing on-site to provide medical welfare services for police officers.
In Chosa-dong, Asan City, the Police University, Police Human Resources Development Institute, and Police Investigation Training Institute are also located. With the establishment of the Police Hospital branch, the province expects to complete a comprehensive police town in name and reality.
In particular, the Police Human Resources Development Institute, where the branch hospital will be located, is advantageously situated within 15 minutes by car from KTX Cheonan-Asan Station, 10 minutes from Asan Express Bus Terminal, and 45 minutes from Cheongju International Airport, allowing visits from anywhere nationwide within 2 hours.
The province expects that once the Police Hospital branch opens in Asan, it will improve medical services for local residents, expand public medical base hospitals, provide medical welfare for police officers outside the metropolitan area, promote regional balanced development, and drive development in the western area of Asan.

Meanwhile, Asan participated in the national effort during the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak by accommodating Chinese evacuees from Wuhan. Considering this, President Yoon Seok-yeol and Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum pledged to establish a branch of the National Police Hospital in Asan.
