They plan to expand the scope of cooperation by jointly promoting technology development projects for the demonstration testing and evaluation of maritime unmanned systems.
Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Seung-hwan Cho stated at the '2nd Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Navy, and Korea Coast Guard Policy Council' held at the Navy Headquarters in Gyeryongdae on the same day, "We will strengthen maritime sovereignty through cooperation among the three institutions?the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Navy, and the Korea Coast Guard?for maritime security that reassures the public."
At this council, the progress of 16 cooperation tasks across five areas was discussed. The five areas include ▲strengthening maritime territory management ▲building a smart maritime environment ▲supporting policies for establishing regional cooperation networks ▲enhancing maritime security capabilities and supporting safe fishing operations ▲supporting public maritime activities.
The three institutions discussed measures to increase cooperation in maritime cybersecurity, strengthen collaboration in maritime unmanned sectors, and enhance cooperation in vessel safety management in adjacent waters.
