Gyeongsang National University was selected by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity as a university to operate the "Digital Sprout Camp (Digital New Sprout (Software·AI Camp))," where elementary, middle, and high school students can learn software (SW) coding practice and AI basics for free during vacation. The university operates this camp with a total project budget of 1.5 billion KRW.
This SW·AI education camp was prepared to expand digital education opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students before the implementation of the "2022 Revised Curriculum" starting in 2025. It is also expected to provide an opportunity for current high school seniors (2022) who did not take mandatory information education during middle school to acquire at least basic digital literacy.
Gyeongsang National University will provide digital education to the local community that enables students to develop competencies without private education, minimizing digital education gaps caused by family background and educational conditions. The university plans to expand digital education linked with elementary, middle, and high schools in the Gyeongnam region by opening programs that alleviate digital education gaps between leading information education schools and general schools.
The Gyeongsang National University SW·AI education camp is divided into ▲ visiting education at local elementary, middle, and high schools ▲ group education held at the university ▲ special camps for students requiring social consideration (students from island and remote schools, special education candidates, multicultural family students, and other marginalized groups). In particular, current high school seniors who participate in group education and then enroll at Gyeongsang National University will be granted 2 academic credits.
Participation is free of charge. Lectures are conducted by professors from Gyeongsang National University and teachers from elementary, middle, and high schools. Students wishing to participate can apply by submitting an email to the Gyeongsang National University administrator or through the Gyeongnam Office of Education's iTalkTalk platform.
