Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu Visits Marine Healing City 'Geoje'

Governor Park Wansu of Gyeongnam Province visited Geoje City Hall for a "Dialogue with Residents."

Governor Park visited Geoje as the seventh stop following Sancheong in August, Hadong, Yangsan, Jinju, Geochang, and Tongyeong for the 'Dialogue with Residents.'
He said, "The shipbuilding orders in Geoje, which went through a difficult period, are increasing, and now the shipbuilding industry will make a new leap forward focusing on eco-friendly smart ships," adding, "In the future, we must diversify the industrial structure not only in shipbuilding but also as a hub for tourism, logistics, and transportation."
He continued, "I am confident that Geoje will become a land of new opportunities once the Southern Inland Railway and Gadeokdo New Airport are completed," and added, "The promotion of the South Coast Island Highway will be a great opportunity for the development of the South Coast tourism industry centered on Geoje."
On this day, Park Jongwoo, Mayor of Geoje City, explained major issues such as the construction of the Southern Inland Railway, the Geoje-Tongyeong Expressway, the expansion of the development project scope for the Gadeok New Airport hinterland city, and requested provincial support for the construction of the Bandabi Sports Center and the repair and reinforcement of the old Geoje Bridge.
The Gyeongnam Province announced that to enhance the competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry, it is promoting ▲ the establishment of an organic cooperation system with the shipbuilding industry ▲ strengthening export support and technology development ▲ and the development project of Jangmok Tourism Complex.
Since Geoje has been designated as a target site for the Korea-ASEAN National Garden, there are plans to develop it into a world-class marine healing city by utilizing abundant tourism resources.

A provincial official said, "We will prepare various industrial bases by dramatically improving accessibility to the metropolitan area through the Southern Inland Railway, Gadeok New Airport, and the extension of the Tongyeong-Daejeon Expressway to Geoje," adding, "We will strive to have the South Coast Island Highway reflected in the national road network plan so that these projects can be promoted early."
