[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province won the grand prize in the field of social security fraud management in the 2022 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The social security fraud management evaluation is conducted annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare targeting metropolitan and local governments nationwide.
Focusing on efforts to prevent and eradicate fraudulent claims for transparent welfare finance management, it comprehensively evaluates the policy directions and efforts of cities and provinces regarding differentiated plan establishment and fraud prevention education.
The province received high praise for legislating related ordinances to prevent fraudulent claims by formalizing accounting audits and strengthening inspection and management through fraud prevention education.
It was the first in the nation to enact the "Jeollanam-do Social Welfare Service Quality Management Ordinance," which formalizes accounting audits to prevent fraudulent claims by social welfare corporations and facilities, and appointed accountants for consulting.
Additionally, by recruiting welfare finance experts as instructors, it established an institutional foundation by conducting fraud prevention education 16 times for about 930 workers, and strengthened inspection and management to prevent fraudulent claims.
