This year, Seo-gu spent 1.28 billion KRW to replace approximately 1,459 old streetlights throughout the district with LED lights and additionally installed 82 streetlights in vulnerable and high-crime areas.
So far, Seo-gu has replaced 16,185 out of a total of 18,461 streetlights in the district, accounting for 87.6% with LED lights, resulting in an annual electricity bill saving of about 300 million KRW.
Additionally, LED streetlights that have not been replaced within two years will be fully replaced, and the brightness status of completed project sections will be continuously monitored.
A Seo-gu official stated, “We will strive to secure project funds to improve streetlight brightness and create streets where residents can walk safely at night, aiming to develop proactive administration that reaches residents as brightly as the lighting.”
