Investigators stated that this incident's connection to Lady Gaga was purely coincidental. The suspects knew that French Bulldogs are expensive and committed the robbery to steal these dogs, which cost thousands of dollars each, without knowing that the dogs belonged to the famous singer Lady Gaga.
James Howard Jackson, who was tried that day, was part of a robbery team consisting of three men and two accomplices. The Los Angeles County Prosecutor's Office announced that he pleaded guilty to attempted murder for shooting the dog walker with a gun and participated in plea negotiations.
Jackson and his group were driving around the Hollywood area on February 24 last year, searching for "French Bulldogs" in residential neighborhoods around West Hollywood and San Fernando. They found Ryan Fischer, who was walking Lady Gaga's three French Bulldogs.
Jackson shot Fischer near the famous Sunset Boulevard and stole two of the dogs. Surveillance cameras at the entrance of a nearby house recorded Fischer screaming, "I've been shot, please save me... I'm bleeding from my chest."
Fischer later posted on his social networking service (SNS) account, "That was truly a moment when death was very close." The dogs were returned a few days later by a woman who was part of the same robbery group.
Jackson was sentenced to 21 years in prison at the trial held on the 5th, with prosecutors noting that this sentence also took into account serious injuries inflicted on the victim before the initial shooting. Jackson admitted to both assaulting and shooting the victim and received the 21-year sentence after negotiations with the prosecutor, according to the LA prosecutor's office.
