Samsung Heavy, Successful Sale of One Drillship... Worth 300 Billion KRW
Sale Confirmed for One Drillship Under Construction at Saipem
Relieving Management Burden of Drillship
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 6th that it sold one drillship to the Italian specialized drilling company Saipem for 299.1 billion KRW.
The drillship sold this time is the 'Santorini,' which Samsung Heavy Industries signed a two-year charter contract with Saipem last June with a purchase option.
In May, Samsung Heavy Industries sold four drillships to 'Curious Crete Ltd,' a domestic private equity fund (PEF), for about 1 trillion KRW. Curious Crete successfully sold two of these drillships, benefiting from the increased demand for drillships needed for deep-sea oilfield development due to the strong international oil prices, and negotiations for the sale of the remaining two drillships are also progressing smoothly.
