LH "Concerns Over Delays in Move-in at 128 Public Housing Sites Due to Cargo Solidarity Union Strike"
Supply Disruption of Ready-Mixed Concrete in 128 out of 244 Construction Sites
[Asia Economy Reporter Noh Kyung-jo] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 2nd that the strike by the Cargo Solidarity Union is raising concerns about delays in public housing occupancy for homeless low-income citizens.
According to LH, out of a total of 431 construction sites nationwide for public housing projects, 244 sites have begun housing construction. Among these, 128 sites are experiencing disruptions in ready-mixed concrete supply due to the Cargo Solidarity Union's transportation refusal that started on the 24th of last month.
LH is continuing construction through alternative processes as a total of 29,000 households are scheduled to move in during the first half of next year. However, if the strike by the Cargo Solidarity Union prolongs and major processes such as framework construction are halted, delays in public housing occupancy are inevitable.
LH is monitoring the construction suspension sites and held an emergency countermeasure meeting on the 30th of last month to discuss measures. They decided to minimize damages to prospective public housing occupants by considering claims for damages if occupancy delays occur due to the prolonged strike.
