KOSPI at 2430 Level in the Afternoon... Foreigners and Institutions 'Buy'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The KOSPI is on the rise on the afternoon of the 29th despite hawkish remarks from James Bullard, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, and protests against China's COVID-19 prevention policies. Driven by combined buying from foreigners and institutions, it briefly climbed to 2430 during the session. The KOSDAQ is also up nearly 1%.
At 1:58 PM, the KOSPI stood at 2428.84, up 0.84% (20.57 points) from the previous day. The KOSPI opened down 0.11% (2.73 points) at 2405.54 and fluctuated throughout the morning session. In the afternoon, it rose steadily, reaching an intraday high of 2430.71, up 0.93%.
Foreigners and institutions are net buyers of 13.7 billion KRW and 265 billion KRW respectively. Foreigners are also purchasing 449.3 billion KRW in the futures market. Conversely, individual investors are net sellers, offloading 284 billion KRW.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, only Samsung Biologics remains flat. LG Chem and Samsung SDI are down 0.28% and 1.65%, respectively. All other major stocks are trading higher.
As of 2:07 PM, the KOSDAQ is trading at 2428.53, up 0.84% (20.26 points) from the previous day. The KOSDAQ opened down 0.40% at 715.02.
Similarly, foreigners and institutions are net buyers of 70.4 billion KRW and 40.5 billion KRW respectively on the KOSDAQ. Meanwhile, individual investors are net sellers of 108.4 billion KRW.
Among the top market capitalization stocks on the KOSDAQ, only HLB (-0.90%), Ligno Industrial (-0.29%), and Chunbo (-0.21%) are declining. Kakao Games and EcoPro are leading gains with increases of 3.02% and 3.00%, respectively.
