Strengthening Patrols Around Residences
Negotiating Smartwatch Distribution
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] In relation to the YouTube channel The Tam Sa raising suspicions about a drinking party in Cheongdam-dong and visiting Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon's residence, the police have taken personal protection measures for Minister Han and his family.
According to Suseo Police Station on the 28th, the police have strengthened patrols around Minister Han's residence located in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and have initiated personal protection measures. They are also discussing providing smartwatches to them.
Five reporters from The Tam Sa stated around 1 p.m. the previous day at the apartment main gate, "Although we do not have compulsory investigative authority, we intend to report from the perspective of letting Minister Han empathize with how journalists feel when police investigators suddenly conduct surprise raids on Sundays," adding, "This is a visit for legitimate reporting purposes, and since it was announced in advance, it cannot be punished as stalking or anything else."
They reportedly examined delivery packages placed in front of Minister Han's residence but left the scene after noticing no signs of activity inside the house. At that time, only Minister Han's wife and children were known to be inside the residence.
In response, Minister Han filed a police complaint against them for trespassing in a shared residence and retaliatory crime charges.
