Deployment of Firefighting Forces Around Gwanghwamun Square on 24th for World Cup Street Support Safety
Four 119 Ambulance Teams, Two Rescue Teams Deployed On-Site...Operation of On-Site Situation Room
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 24th that it plans to deploy firefighting forces to ensure the safe conduct of street cheering events at Gwanghwamun for the '2022 Qatar World Cup' and to respond immediately to emergencies.
The main duties of the firefighting forces deployed for the safety of the cheering site include △pre-inspection of fire safety △rescue of people and transport of emergency patients in case of various accidents △rapid dissemination of information through the operation of an on-site situation room. The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will deploy 54 firefighters and 9 fire trucks around Gwanghwamun Square, the street cheering site.
In particular, four 119 ambulance teams will be dispersed around Gwanghwamun Square to provide emergency treatment and transport in case of emergency patients at the site, and two rescue teams, including special rescue teams capable of conducting life-saving operations in large-scale accidents, will also be deployed. Separate passageways and waiting areas will be designated to allow 119 ambulances and others to move quickly at the cheering site.
Additionally, a 119 on-site situation room will be operated to manage the dissemination of information and additional deployment of firefighting forces in case of safety accidents occurring in situations where large crowds gather. The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will establish a cooperative system with the city’s safety management department, police, and others, activate an emergency response system, share situation information from the on-site situation room, and make every effort to mobilize firefighting forces promptly, including activating the emergency rescue control team at the disaster site in case of disaster occurrence.
Furthermore, the Jongno Fire Station will conduct pre-inspections to eliminate fire safety risk factors at the cheering site. Through inspections, they will check the installation of fire extinguishing facilities and conduct safety education for related personnel, and even during the cheering events, they plan to patrol to detect and prevent fire risk factors.
