Prosecutors Conduct Additional Search of No Woong-rae's National Assembly Office on Bribery Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The prosecution is conducting an additional search and seizure on the National Assembly office of Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker No Woong-rae, who is accused of bribery and violation of the Political Funds Act, on the 24th.
The Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-chul) sent prosecutors and investigators to No's office in the National Assembly Members' Office Building this morning to secure email data from his computer.
They also conducted a search and seizure at the National Assembly Main Building's Integrated Information System Maintenance Office to find related materials from servers containing computers and data used by No during his tenure as chairman of the Science, Technology, Broadcasting and Communications Committee in the 20th National Assembly.
No is accused of receiving a total of 60 million won from businessman Park in the name of election expenses for the 21st National Assembly election from February to November 2020 (charges of bribery, mediation bribery, and violation of the Political Funds Act).
The prosecution suspects that Park requested No to expedite the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's real demand verification process for a logistics complex development project, support for a solar power business, and personnel appointments related to the local tax office chief and executives of Korea East-West Power Co., Ltd. while delivering the money.

Earlier, the prosecution searched No's National Assembly office and residence on the 16th and 18th. In particular, they secured bundles of cash amounting to about 300 million won at his residence and are analyzing whether Park's money is mixed in. Park is a figure who allegedly gave 940 million won to Lee Jung-geun (detained and indicted), former Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Party, under the pretext of illegal political funds and other reasons.
