Gwangju University Department of Computer Engineering Wins Award at Creative Robot Competition
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The LINC3.0 Project Group at Gwangju University announced on the 24th that three teams composed of computer engineering students participated in the '2022 University Union Embedded Creative Robot Challenge Competition' and all received encouragement awards.
The teams awarded encouragement prizes were RUSH (Park Jiwon, Ji Yongsuk), Annyeong Robot (Son Taemin, Park Geonhee), and ROVO (Yang Daeseok, Yoo Seonghun).
This competition was held with the goal of nurturing talents equipped with creative and innovative problem-solving skills and AI (artificial intelligence) utilization abilities required in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The participating students performed the task of 'Resource Classification and Recycling Using AI' by moving robots through programs they coded themselves, recognizing cans and water bottles, classifying them to designated locations, and measuring records.
No Seonsik, head of the Gwangju University LINC3.0 Project Group, said, "Through this competition, we were able to confirm the embedded programming skills of students who are growing into talents needed in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution."

Meanwhile, the teams participating in the competition completed the 'Embedded Creative Robot S.W Education' conducted by each participating university since last September, and three teams that passed the university-level preliminaries advanced to the finals.
