Discussion on Sustainable Han-ASEAN Partnership Cooperation
Korea-ASEAN Forum Held
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Jong-min] The Korea-ASEAN Center (Secretary-General Kim Hae-yong) held the "Korea-ASEAN Forum" on the 24th at the Choi Jong-hyun Hall in the SK Future Hall of Korea University to discuss cooperation measures for a sustainable Korea-ASEAN partnership.
The Korea-ASEAN Forum, held for the first time this year, was organized to bring together government officials and scholars from Korea and ASEAN to review the 33-year Korea-ASEAN partnership and discuss challenges and solutions for a sustainable Korea-ASEAN relationship from a long-term perspective. The forum was co-hosted by the ASEAN Center of the Institute of Asian Studies at Korea University and the Korean Association for the United Nations System. Ong Keng Yong, former ASEAN Secretary-General and Senior Deputy Director of the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, delivered the keynote speech.

Kim Hae-yong, Secretary-General of the Korea-ASEAN Center, stated, “Since the establishment of dialogue relations in 1989, Korea and ASEAN have achieved remarkable growth in all fields including politics and security, economy, and socio-culture. Korea and ASEAN are partners capable of creating a mutually beneficial and future-oriented cooperative relationship. Through this forum, I hope to hear opinions from various sectors for a sustainable and close Korea-ASEAN relationship.”
