Approval of 2022 Supplementary Budget of 1.2862 Trillion Won
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Heo Seonsik] The Gwangyang City Council in Jeollanam-do announced that on the 23rd, it held the 2nd plenary session, approved the 4th supplementary budget for 2022, and listened to Mayor Jeong Inhwa’s proposal explanation for the 2023 budget.
After reviewing the 4th supplementary budget, the Budget and Accounts Special Committee cut 2.1 billion KRW from the Seonghwang Neighborhood Park construction project and revised it as an internal reserve fund.
From the 24th, the City Council will conduct document audits and on-site inspections of the overall administrative affairs promoted by Gwangyang City, and will conclude the administrative audit with policy inquiries over two days on December 1st and 2nd. This will be broadcast live in real time through the City Council website.
Starting December 5th, each standing committee will review 18 ordinances and general matters, and continue to review the 2023 budget and fund operation plans.
The 2023 budget submitted by Gwangyang City amounts to 1.1933 trillion KRW (984.5 billion KRW in the general account and 208.8 billion KRW in the special account), which is an increase of 33.1 billion KRW (2.9%) compared to the 2022 original budget.
After preliminary reviews by each standing committee, the main budget for 2023 will undergo comprehensive review by the Budget and Accounts Special Committee starting on the 15th, and will be approved at the 3rd plenary session held on the 21st.
A City Council official said, “To enhance citizens’ right to know and transparently disclose the process of decision-making, major meetings such as plenary and standing committee meetings are broadcast live in real time through the City Council website. Recorded videos will also be uploaded for on-demand viewing.”
