[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Starbucks Korea announced on the 24th that it will hold the ‘CARRY the MERRY Sharing Day’ event on the 25th, Christmas Day, to raise up to 500 million KRW in funds based on the items purchased by customers in one day and donate them to local community NGOs.
The event is Starbucks’ largest social contribution activity of the year, accumulating 230 KRW for each star earned by Starbucks Rewards members and for every item sold at Starbucks stores nationwide, and donating the funds to local community organizations and groups.
The raised funds will be delivered to 23 NGO organizations, including Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, Heart-Heart Foundation, Resource Circulation Society Solidarity, and Cultural Heritage National Trust, which are involved in Starbucks’ key social contribution activities such as youth, environment, and cultural heritage, as well as a total of 37 local community groups including nationwide talent donation cafes.
To mark the 23rd anniversary of its opening, Starbucks will match 230 KRW for each item sold nationwide at Starbucks stores on the 25th and 230 KRW for each star earned by Starbucks Rewards members, raising a total of 500 million KRW for Sharing Day, the largest single donation event of the year.
