Seoul Botanic Park Holds Award Ceremony for 'Planting Design Competition'... Call for Entries on the Theme of 'Winter Garden'
Five Works Selected from Spring... Exhibition and Seasonal Evaluations Conducted
Evaluations by 100 Internal and External Judges and Citizen Panel, Ranking Determined
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Botanic Park Planting Design Competition, which annually selects the top "golden hands" in the field of garden plant planting design, will hold its final awards ceremony after exhibitions and seasonal evaluations that have continued since spring.
On the 24th, Seoul Botanic Park announced that it will hold the awards ceremony for the "3rd Seoul Botanic Park Planting Design Competition" at Seoul Botanic Park. Now in its third year, this competition called for works under the theme of "Winter Garden," receiving a total of 34 submissions, showing high enthusiasm. Among them, five works were selected in April, and after about a month of garden creation near the Forest Culture School at Seoul Botanic Park, they were opened to the public from May for exhibition and evaluation.
To enhance fairness in this competition, six external judges, three internal judges, and an additional 100 citizen judges were recruited to conduct evaluations, and the results were combined to determine the rankings based on the highest scores.
The first prize (Grand Prize) will be awarded 5 million KRW, second prize (Gold Prize) 3 million KRW, third prize (Silver Prize) 1 million KRW, and fourth and fifth prizes (Bronze Prize) 500,000 KRW each. The works created through this competition will remain near the Forest Culture School at Seoul Botanic Park for the next three years to be showcased to citizens.
At this awards ceremony, Seoul Botanic Park will also announce the "Top 10 Plants that Brightened the Garden," recommending excellent garden plants selected through research and monitoring of exhibited works over the past three years, attracting attention. Additionally, a "Talk Show with Artists" featuring participants from the 1st to 3rd competitions will be held, along with an introduction to the volunteer group's activities who carefully managed the competition garden works and awards for outstanding volunteers.
