TV for the Visually Impaired... Samsung Smart TV Receives UK Certification
Obtained Accessibility Certification from the Royal Society for the Blind UK
Providing Various Accessibility Features Including Voice Guidance and SeeColors App
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] The 2022 model Samsung Smart TV has received the 'Visual Impairment Accessibility Accreditation (RNIB Tried and Tested Accreditation)' from the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) in the UK.
According to Samsung Electronics on the 16th, the company has been collaborating with the RNIB since 2013 to enhance the accessibility of its smart TVs, and in 2020, it became the first consumer electronics product to receive the visual impairment accessibility accreditation awarded by the organization.
This year as well, Samsung applied further enhanced accessibility features and obtained the accreditation for the second consecutive time.
Samsung Smart TVs provide a 'Voice Guide' feature that explains how to use the remote control and accessibility functions, and offers key program information. Users can also adjust the pitch and speed of the voice to suit their preferences.
The 'High Contrast Screen' feature displays graphic information with white text on an opaque black background, improving visibility while reducing eye strain. It also automatically adjusts transparent TV menu screens to be opaque, making text clearer.
The 'Black and White' feature converts color images to black and white for users who have difficulty recognizing colors, while the 'Color Inversion' feature enhances visibility for light-sensitive or low-vision users by inverting the background to black and text to white.
Additionally, the 'SeeColors' app adjusts the screen considering the color spectrum visible to those with color vision deficiencies. The 'Focus Zoom' feature, which enlarges text and detailed elements on screens such as channel information and Smart Hub, also aids recognition.
