The hospital's nursing department implements the "Preceptor" system every March when new nurses join, to help them quickly adapt to the hospital environment and improve their job performance.
A preceptor is a senior nurse with extensive know-how who mentors a new nurse on a one-on-one basis.
During the first six months after joining, standardized practical training is provided, including ▲ CPR simulation training ▲ accurate nursing record writing ▲ effective communication ▲ chemotherapy ▲ hazardous chemical management, helping improve job skills and satisfaction.
Most medical institutions have held events to celebrate 100 days since new nurses joined.
However, Daedong Hospital, after completing all six months of training, holds the New Nurse Independence Day event on November 11th as a form of encouragement for new nurses starting to work independently from their preceptors, replacing the 100-day celebration since last year.
The nursing department of Daedong Hospital designated November 11th, which has four '1's symbolizing the meaning of new nurses standing independently, as New Nurse Independence Day. This year, they held a certificate presentation ceremony and gave small gifts to celebrate the independence of 42 new nurses.

Son Inhye, head of the nursing department, said, "Having a senior nurse who guides new nurses to adapt well to hospital life and work is truly a great support. The senior nurses serving as preceptors also take this opportunity to reflect on their sense of mission and professionalism, creating a win-win situation for both. We will continue to plan and implement various activities to create diverse educational and communication opportunities to strengthen nurses' capabilities, improving job satisfaction and supporting personal development."
