BTS Wins Biggest Fan Award at MTV EMA for 5 Consecutive Years
Seventeen and TXT Win First Awards, BLACKPINK Lisa Named 'Best K-Pop'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The group BTS won the ‘2022 MTV EMA’ Biggest Fans award for the fifth consecutive year.
On the 13th (local time), BTS took home the ‘Biggest Fans’ award at the ‘2022 MTV Europe Music Awards’ (hereafter ‘2022 MTV EMA’) held at the PSD Bank Dome in D?sseldorf, Germany.
The ‘Biggest Fans’ category was announced through the official ‘MTV EMA’ SNS prior to the main ceremony. BTS has held the record of winning this category for five consecutive years since their first win in 2018.
At this year’s ‘2022 MTV EMA’, BTS was nominated in the ‘Best K-Pop’, ‘Biggest Fans’, and ‘Best Metaverse Performance’ categories. Attention is focused on whether BTS will secure additional trophies beyond the ‘Biggest Fans’ award.
BLACKPINK received the ‘Best Metaverse Performance’ award, and member Lisa won the ‘Best K-Pop’ category. Additionally, Seventeen (SVT) enjoyed the joy of winning the most awards among K-pop groups by receiving ‘Best New’ and ‘Best Push’ awards and being nominated for ‘MTV EMA’.
Moreover, BTS’s junior group ‘Tomorrow X Together’ (TXT, also known as TubaT) won the ‘Best Asia Act’ award.
Previously, BTS swept four trophies each in 2020 for ‘Best Song’, ‘Biggest Fans’, ‘Best Group’, and ‘Best Virtual Live’, and in 2021 for ‘Best Pop’, ‘Best K-Pop’, ‘Best Group’, and ‘Biggest Fans’.
