Shinsegae Property Obtains Environmental Management System Certification... Accelerates ESG Management
Starfield and City All Stores Certification Expansion Planned
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Shinsegae Property announced on the 14th that it has obtained the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Environmental Management System (ISO14001) certification. ISO14001 is the most prestigious international certification in the field of environmental management, awarded to companies that establish environmental management policies and concrete environmental management systems such as organization, procedures, and plans to minimize the negative impact of their products and services on the environment.
Shinsegae Property built an environmental management system that complies with international standards and, after five months of preparation, received ISO14001 certification for the Shinsegae Property headquarters and Starfield Hanam. They established department-specific environmental management roles and responsibilities (R&R), built processes for collecting environmental data, organized compliance with environmental laws and risk management measures, formulated mid- to long-term energy reduction plans and strategies, and created 13 types of manuals and procedures and 22 types of records, establishing a systematic system that covers leadership, actual operation, performance evaluation, and improvement measures.
Based on the environmental management system established this time, Shinsegae Property plans to strengthen eco-friendly activities to internalize an eco-friendly culture within the organization and actively manage the efficient allocation of human and material resources to continuously improve environmental performance. In addition, they plan to expand certification acquisition not only to Shinsegae Property headquarters and Starfield Hanam but also to Goyang, Anseong, COEX Mall, and all Starfield City stores.
